Leading with Care. Challenging with Integrity. Building Pathways for Change.
Thanbarran (Than-barr-an) means connections or path in Gamilaraay Language—once the routes between sacred sites, and now the relationships we build between people, communities, and systems in need of change.
Our Commitment
We commit to leading with cultural expertise and lived experience rooted in strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identities, drawing from family groups in regional and remote communities often among the most disadvantaged in the country.
Our services span human resources, employment, research, program evaluation, child safety, and youth engagement—always with a focus on creating systems that work for those most vulnerable, not just the privileged.
We partner with organisations and communities to dismantle systemic barriers, co-design culturally safe pathways, and build lasting change that honours Indigenous knowledge and advances self-determination.
Thanbarran supports organisations to be accountable, respectful, and genuinely committed to moving beyond performative actions toward meaningful partnership and change.
Our Services
-
Supporting structural change from the inside out.
We work with organisations ready to move beyond surface-level inclusion by transforming their internal systems, policies, and people practices to centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership, cultural safety, and accountability. This is long-term work that builds the conditions for meaningful change within. -
Generating insight that drives better systems and outcomes.
We lead community-informed research and evaluation that amplifies lived experience, uncovers systemic barriers, and helps organisations deliver programs that actually work for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. -
Strategic and structural transformation for lasting impact.
We partner with organisations to embed cultural safety and leadership into policies, governance, and people practices. This long-term work builds environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are supported to thrive — not just survive. -
Supporting strong programs from the ground up.
We work alongside communities, governments, and service providers to co-design and deliver programs that reflect the realities of those most affected. Our strength lies in shaping healing-informed, practical responses—especially for children, young people, and families. -
Deep, transformative learning designed to shift mindsets and practice.
Our training goes beyond basic awareness. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge and trauma-informed frameworks, these workshops equip your teams with the skills to engage respectfully, understand cultural load, and embed psychological safety. -
To complement our live training, Thanbarran offers tailored e-learning modules on Indigenous recruitment, conscious inclusion, and unconscious bias. These scalable, evidence-based courses provide flexible learning options and can be licensed by organisations to support ongoing cultural capability development.
